Copperstate 1000

Vintage cars rev up for a ride through Arizona's stunning landscapes

Set against a backdrop of wide desert plains dotted by historic towns, isolated peaks, ancient cacti, and striking mesas, a host of luxurious classic cars wind serpentine roads, capturing the carefree spirit of a bygone era.

It’s the Bell Lexus Copperstate 1000, Arizona’s celebrated four-day vintage car rally. Organized by the all-volunteer Men’s Arts Council, the drive benefits the Phoenix Art Museum. Now in its 22nd year, it attracts a list of more than 80 pre-1973 vehicles that get the hearts racing of even the most casual observers.

In April, Ferraris, Aston Martins, Cobras, Jaguars, and rare models such as a Peerless, a Toyota 2000GT, and a Cisitalia gather for a public viewing at the Field of Dreams in Tempe Diablo Stadium before embarking on the 1,000-mile cruise. While entrants pay a hefty sum to participate, collector car enthusiasts and admirers may revel in the spectacle for free. Find more information here
