Cruising Takes Off in 2017

Whether you’re an experienced cruiser or it’s your first time dipping your toes into the waters, there are increasingly compelling reasons to book a cruise this year. Between now and 2022, more than 30 new ocean and river vessels are making their debuts, traveling to new ports-of-call, and offering exciting amenities never before available on ships.

Gone are the Love Boat cruise ships of old. In are larger cabins, vaulted ceilings, cooking classes, and thrilling adventures. Here’s a quick preview of some of the new ships headed out on the open waters in 2017.
Viking Sea — Experience the amenities and comforts of an ocean cruise with a more intimate style traditionally offered only by river cruises. Menus feature local ingredients, al fresco dining, and afternoon tea. There’s even a Snow Grotto where you can sit under lightly falling snowflakes.
Majestic Princess — Take advantage of the More Ashore program. Late night departures and overnight and two-day excursions allow for more time to explore the ports of call.

Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas — Adventure abounds with thrills such as the RipCord skydiving simulator. Families will appreciate the option to have interconnected staterooms with a virtual balcony, an 80-inch high-definition screen inside an interior stateroom that spans floor to ceiling.

Regent Seven Seas Explorer — The most luxurious ship in the world brings Canyon Ranch fitness classes and spa treatments, as well as a culinary arts kitchen to the seas.

Holland America ms Koningsdam — Check out several new concepts: ocean-view staterooms that can accommodate up to five people; an updated culinary arts center; and a Music Walk with Billboard Onboard, B.B. King’s Blues Club, and the World Stage.
