2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS

Wheels for the Bucket List

BYNina Russin
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, the average American drives 13,476 miles per year. Multiply that by 60 years and a person would cover more than 808,500 miles.
Since we spend so much time in our vehicles, wouldn’t it be great if every driver could own at least one dream car? Our automotive bucket list includes eight 2017 vehicles that not only fulfill our driving fantasies, but also are priced below $60,000.
1. Mazda MX-5 Miata
Base price: $24,915
When the Mazda team designed the first Miata as a 1990 model, their goal was to capture the spirit of classic British sports cars in a modern two-seat roadster. For more than 25 years, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has done just that, accruing legions of fans.
2. Shelby GT350 Mustang
Base price: $54,570
Inspired by the 1965 muscle car, the newest Shelby GT350 Mustang is equally at home on road and track, with a 526-horsepower V-8 engine. A standard track package to improve high-speed handling is new for 2017.
3. Chevrolet Camaro SS
Base price: $37,900
The name of Chevrolet’s popular sport coupe comes from “camarade,” French for “friend,” and it has certainly fulfilled that role for driving enthusiasts. This year Camaro celebrates its 50th birthday with several track-prepared versions as well as the ever-popular V-8 powered SS, which is rated at 455-horsepower.
4. Volkswagen Beetle Convertible
Base price: $24,725
It’s easy to imagine motoring along the coastline in a Volkswagen Beetle convertible. The official car of the “Summer of Love” is more appealing than ever with special editions such as the #PinkBeetle and the Dune.
5. Subaru WRX
Base price: $26,695
If you’re an all-season adventurer, the all-wheel drive Subaru WRX is your car. Though it’s engineered for rally cross competition, the WRX is practical enough for everyday driving with a standard rearview camera and optional blind-spot detection. Power comes from a turbocharged, 268-horsepower 4-cylinder engine and six-speed manual transmission.
6.Nissan 370Z
Base price: $29,990
With lineage dating back to the 1970 240Z, Nissan’s two-plus-two is eternally young, powered by a 332-horsepower V-6 engine with a “SynchroRev Match” system that blips the throttle to the ideal RPM for effortless downshifting and enhanced track performance.
7. Lexus RC 200t F Sport
Base price: $45,360
Inspired by Lexus’ LFA super car, the rear-wheel drive RC 200t F Sport coupe is as gorgeous as it is powerful, with a twin-scroll turbocharged intercooled engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. The F Sport package adds tuning for the track.
8. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
Base price: $33,645
Descended from Willys-Overland Jeeps built for U.S. troops in World War II, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon sets the standard for extreme off-road performance.
